For both rafters and outdoor
enthusiasts the Franklin River is
synonymous with wilderness
conservation. It is one of the
world's last great wild rivers and
it forges its course through the
rugged South West of Tasmania.
The Franklin River is well known for
its moods and changes as it flows
through deep gorges, quiet pools and
temperate rainforest. Whatever the
river level you will be in safe
hands.
Our experienced rafting guides have
an unrivalled safety record while
the selection of camps and the
preparation of delicious meals will
exceed your expectations.
While any rafting descent of the
Franklin River is demanding it is
not necessary to have previous
rafting experience. However some
wilderness experience along with a
sound level of fitness is essential
and above all a flexible nature and
a willingness to become part of a
small crew immersed in the vast and
remote wilderness will ensure a
wealth of experiences
Optional 2
Day Add-on in 2008
Our Frenchmans Cap program add two
days and a challenging hike to our
Franklin River rafting trip. We aim
to complete a steep ascent from the
river to the quartzite dome of
Frenchmans Cap (1443m), from where
we gain 360 degree views over the
entire South West wilderness of
Tasmania. |
