Experience the best that Cradle
Mountain has to offer on our 3 day
Cradle Mountain tour. Cradle
Mountain is abundant in history,
native wildlife, waterfalls,
panoramic views and ancient stands
of rainforest. On our fully
inclusive, professionally guided
tour we discover the natural
attractions that capture the essence
of this iconic area. After a full
day of walking the trails, carrying
just a simple daypack we return each
evening to our cosy and comfortable
cabins.
Day 1: Launceston to Cradle We
transfer from Launceston to Cradle
Mt. National Park (travel time
approx. 2 hours). On arrival at
Cradle your guides will serve you
lunch and refreshments. This
afternoon, in consultation with the
group, your guides will lead you on
a 2-4 hour walk to take in the
beauty of Cradle Valley. Options for
the afternoon include the Lake Lilla
- Wombat Pool track or perhaps the
longer route of Hounslow Heath.
Cradle Valley comes alive at dusk,
with many of Tasmania’s cute little
furry creatures including - Bennetts
Wallabies, Tasmanian Pademelons,
Wombats, possums and for the lucky
onlooker perhaps the Spotted Quoll
or infamous Tassie Devil. We
overnight in well appointed cabin
accommodation.
Day 2: Day
Walk According to
party preference, there are numerous
choices for walks of greater or
lesser extent, a climb to the summit
of Cradle Mountain 1545 meters is
the highlight of the tour, or other
high places offer rewarding views.
Passing Crater Lake on our way to
the top of Marion’s Lookout with its
sweeping views of Dove Lake, then on
to Kitchen hut. After a rest those
who are keen to climb Cradle
Mountain will head for the summit
while other party members will make
a more leisurely stroll back along
the Horse Track within the
capability of the average person,
the impressive Twisted Lakes
escarpment provides hours of walking
pleasure. Guides, both male and
female, provide skilled leadership
and interpretation. The guides carry
all equipment and lunches of
satisfying variety are prepared.
Day 1:
Cradle to Launceston
Possible activities include a round
trip walk around Dove Lake at the
foot of Cradle Mountain taking in
the grandeur of the Ballroom Forest
or a visit to Hanson’s Peak and
Twisted Lake with its views
stretching across to the Walls of
Jerusalem National Park and nearby
vantage points. If time permits, the
well-presented Visitor Centre is an
attraction with the Pencil Pine
Falls in the background. Returning
to Launceston via Sheffield by
approximately 4:30pm. |
