Depart Adelaide by light aircraft
for the ancient landscapes of the
Flinders Ranges, that have inspired
artists and poets for centuries. Spend
the afternoon seeing life on a typical
Outback sheep station or viewing the
Flinders Ranges. Accommodation:
Award-winning luxury eco-villa at
Rawnsley Park Station. (L, D)
Day 2: Depart the Station
for a flight to Coober Pedy. Coober
Pedy is a town of 4000 people world
famous for its opal mining. Summer heat
means that most of the residents live
underground. Spend the afternoon on a
tour of the town, which will include a
visit down an opal mine, to an
underground church and an underground
home, looking for gems, shopping for
opals. All set against the backdrop of
some of the harshest environments in
Australia. Accommodation: The world’s

Day 3:
Depart Coober Pedy direct to Uluru, the
Red Centre of Australia. In the late
afternoon, travel to a dining setting in
the desert. Sip on a glass of sparkling
wine with the sound of a lone didgeridoo
filling the air as the sun sets over
Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and Uluru (Ayers
Rock). Dine on a gourmet BBQ of
Australian delicacies, then sit back and
take in the mystery of the desert at
night as an astronomer takes you on a
tour of the Southern night skies.
Accommodation: five star deluxe room,
with continental breakfast. (B, D)
