Originally built in 1919 to
accommodate a visit from
Edward, Prince of Wales, this
timber carriage was recently
refurbished and maintains many
of the original features,
including high ceilings of
Wunderlich pressed metal and
cathedral glass doors.
The carriage accommodates up
to ten people, featuring four
twin cabins and two large
single cabins, which combined
comprise the Mount Batten
Suite. There is also a private
lounge area and central full
size bathroom.
The Prince of Wales Carriage
can be added to The Ghan or
the Indian Pacific and private
charters can be arranged from
Adelaide, Perth, Alice Springs
or Darwin.

The Chairman's Carriage is the
pride of Great Southern
Rail's fleet. It can
accommodate up to eight
guests in two double
bedrooms sharing a 2-way
bathroom and two twin cabins
with adjacent bathroom
facilities.
Your private carriage provides

player, DVD and video
entertainment; private
dining room with fully
equipped kitchen and your
own dedicated chef (extra
cost) or guests can dine in
the Gold Restaurant at no
extra charge.

sister carriage to the
Prince of Wales Carriage.
This timber carriage was
constructed in 1917 for the
official opening of the
Trans Australian Railway.
The Governor's Lounge provides
spacious lounge areas with
comfortable arm chairs and a
piano; large picture
windows, two televisions,
two mini-bar fridges and tea
& coffee making facilities.

The Sir John Forrest Carriage
is named after the explorer
made famous for the first
crossing of Western
Australia by land in 1870.
Follow in his footsteps
across the Nullarbor Plain,
travelling in the comfort of
this modern carriage.
This carriage accommodates up
to six guests in one double
bedroom and two twin
cabins with ensuite
facilities.
A kitchenette/ bar and
generous lounge area with
leather sofas and large
picture windows holds a big
screen television, video/
DVD and Powerpoint screening
facilities. A meeting
area with a 12-seat table is
also available. Guests dine
in the Gold Restaurant at no
extra cost.
