with Arnhem Land. Day one includes a
spectacular Yellow Water Cruise and
Aboriginal art at Nourlangie Rock in
Kakadu, day two you explore Arnhem
Land by 4WD and day three visit the
beautiful Litchfield National Park
with its stunning waterfalls.
Day 1:
Nourlangie Rock, Kakadu National
Park, Warradjan Cultural Centre,
Yellow Water Billabong Cruise.
Depart Darwin and travel through
Humpty Doo to World Heritage-listed
Kakadu National Park. Visit the
Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre
then join a guided cruise on
Kakadu’s famous Yellow Water
billabong. Cruise along the tranquil
waters while your guide provides
informative commentary on the
region’s natural history and
wildlife. Keep a look out for
saltwater crocodiles. After lunch at
Cooinda, tour through galleries of
rock art at Nourlangie Rock, one of
the most significant Aboriginal art
sites in the park. (L)

Day 2:
Arnhem Land by 4-Wheel Drive.
Journey across the East Alligator
River into Arnhem Land.
Aboriginal-owned, Arnhem Land is one
of Australia’s most remote and least
traversed regions. Travel to the
rarely visited Mikinj Valley with
its sandstone outcrops, escarpments,
floodplains and billabongs. With
special permission from the
Manilakarr people, visit places
inaccessible to most. Hear of
traditional land ownership, learn
bush skills of hunting and gathering
and how to prepare bush tucker. View
ancient Aboriginal rock art in its
most natural state – no barriers or
fences. Most tours are led or
accompanied by an Aboriginal guide.
Returning to Darwin, stop at Window
on the Wetlands Visitor Centre and
enjoy a complimentary glass of wine
on the viewing deck overlooking the
floodplains. (L)

Day 3:
Litchfield National Park, Darwin
Today journey into beautiful
Litchfield National Park. Home to
sandstone outcrops, monsoonal
rainforest and year-round
waterfalls, Litchfield offers
stunning scenery. View the
intriguing magnetic termite mounds
and the spectacular double waterfall
of Florence Falls. Continue on to
the stunning Tolmer Falls. At Wangi
Falls enjoy a swim (conditions
permitting) or take a nature walk
through the surrounding bush to the
top of the falls for a bird’s-eye
view. Return to Darwin. (L) |
