Australia is a
long way away
and there is no
way around that
fact. While it
is possible to
travel downunder
by cargo ship,
it is really
only practical
to fly.
From North
America, there
are two major
routes. One may
fly directly
from Los
Angeles, San
Francisco or
Vancouver south
to Australia, or
via one of the
major Asian
gateways of
Tokyo, Kuala
Lumpur or
Singapore.
Your choice
of route will
depend on
personal
preference,
budget and
destination, but
each option has
advantages. The
fast South
Pacific route is
certainly
convenient with
aircraft flying
non-stop from
California to
Sydney in only
fourteen hours.
This route also
offers the
opportunity to
add stops in one
or more of the
Pacific island
nations en route
to Australia;
you may break
your journey in
Tahiti, Fiji,
New Zealand or
even Samoa and
visit some
really different
countries in
addition to
Australia. Air
New Zealand, Air
Pacific and Air
Tahiti Nui all
offer
competitive
rates with
routes through
their own home
centres.
Routes via
Asia are
sometimes
longer, although
passage to
Perth, Adelaide
and Darwin are
often quicker
flying across
the North
Pacific. If you
are travelling
for an extended
period, fares
can be lower if
you take the
Asian route, and
of course, you
can augment your
Australian
journey with a
stopover in one
of Asia's
remarkable
capitals.
If you have
enough time, you
have the
opportunity to
travel on either
a "Circle
Pacific" or
a "Round
the World"
ticket and
extend your
vacation into a
journey. Include
London, Hong
Kong or even
South Africa in
your itinerary
and go
exploring.
For those
seeking a little
more comfort in
their travel, we
are happy to
offer some
exclusive
Business and
First Class
fares. Good
routes, great
prices and real
comfort on
board.
We help
hundreds of
folks decide the
best option for
them to travel
to the South
Pacific, and
look forward to
assisting you in
planning your
travels
DownUnder.
