Alice Springs has evolved into a modern town while maintaining its fascinating heritage and 'outback' friendliness. Explore the historic Telegraph Station and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Tour the sights of 'The Alice' including the historic Telegraph Station and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Visit the School of the Air where sometimes we are able to listen to the children take lessons on air. Stop at Alice Springs Reptile Centre where you will see unique Central Australian reptiles such as the Perentie and Thorny Devil. Conclude with a panoramic view of Alice Springs and the surrounding ranges from the top of Anzac Hill.

Travel west from Alice Springs following the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges. Pass the John Flynn Memorial (founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service). Stop at Simpsons Gap with its lovely river red gum scenery. Continue on to magical Angkerle (Standley Chasm) where morning tea is provided. Walk into the Chasm along the stony watercourse lined with cycads, ghost gums, acacias and cypress pines. Travel to Ellery Creek Big Hole, before arriving at Ormiston Gorge. We travel onto Glen Helen Gorge, a semi permanent waterhole. Lunch is included today and depending on the time of the year a refreshing swim may be possible at one of the waterholes visited. At Glen Helen Homestead you have the opportunity to take in the spectacular views by the helicopter (own expense). Nearby is the Mt Sonder lookout. this beautiful mountain was the subject of many paintings by the famed Aboriginal Namatjira. We travel past the famous twin ghost gums on our way back into Alice Springs.

Travel south from Alice Springs, passing through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Pause at Jim's Place for a breakfast stop (own expense). Stop at the Atila (Mt. Conner) lookout and enjoy morning tea. Travel on to Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. Join a base tour of Uluru, including a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole where you can view Aboriginal rock paintings. Visit the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and learn more about Tjukurpa (law) of the Anangu people. There may be time to climb Uluru (conditions permitting). Visit Kata Tjuta, where you can take a walk between the massive domes at Walpa Gorge. Travel back to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the sunset and the changing colours of Uluru whilst sipping sparkling wine or juice, followed by a sunset buffet dinner. After dinner, return to Alice Springs.

Embark on an exciting 4WD adventure along the sandy bed of the Finke River into Palm Valley. See spectacular rock formations, white sands and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. This one day 4 Wheel Drive Safari travels through the West MacDonnell Ranges to Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community and historic precinct which is renowned for its Aboriginal art collection and the works of Albert Namatjira. Either morning or afternoon tea is provided in Hermannsburg. Travel down the bed of the Finke River, one of the oldest watercourses in the world, into Palm Valley. See spectacular rock forms, white sands and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. Some plants, such as the cycad and ‘Livistona Mariae’ (cabbage palm) are known world-wide as relic plants and are unique to Central Australia. Visit the spectacular rock formation known as the Amphitheatre. Enjoy a picnic lunch within Finke Gorge National Park. On the return journey to Alice Springs watch the changing colours of the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges in the afternoon sunlight.
